Everything you need to know about dental implants

You’ve just visited my office, and after a thorough examination, a dental implant has been recommended. What exactly is that? And, what will the process be like?

First and foremost, you’ve come to the right place. Advanced implant dentistry is my specialty. I’ve performed the procedure more than 6,000 times. For me, Step #1 is making sure you completely understand the process.

Without a doubt, dental implants are the best treatment for missing teeth. They are the most natural-looking and natural-feeling option. They allow you to smile, eat confidently, and enjoy life without ever thinking about your teeth. You brush them and floss as you would any other tooth. Unlike other replacement options – like a fixed bridge – implants never slip or click, nor do they need to be replaced regularly. They are also healthier for you, as they help to maintain the jawbone and keep the facial structure intact.

When a damaged tooth is removed (whether due to injury, defects, disease or decay), both the visible part of the tooth (the crown) and the root are lost. A dental implant is a cylindrical and/or tapered post, usually made of titanium that serves as a substitute for the tooth root. A connector, known as an abutment is placed on, or built into, the top of the dental implant. This connects the implant to the replacement tooth or teeth. Lastly, a crown, or replacement tooth, is custom made to match your natural teeth.

Dental Implants are today´s state-of-the-art teeth replacement option.

Dental implants offer the advantage of functional and naturally looking teeth. They act just like regular teeth when you chew and best of all, the will increase your confidence and bring out that beautiful smile. Eventhough they can seem expensive, overtime they are the most cost effective solution for missing teeth.
